The ultimate goal of the Institutes is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">of teaching about the United States in secondary schools and other academic institutions abroad.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Each Institute will have approximately 20 participants and will be conducted by various colleges,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">universities, and academic institutions throughout the United States beginning in or after June 2022.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Study of the U.S. Institutes for Secondary Educators will take place at various academic institutions<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">throughout the United States over the course of five weeks beginning in June 2022. Each Institute<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">includes a four-week academic residency component and a one-week integrated study tour to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">another region of the United States.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The program will provide three multinational groups of 20 experienced secondary school educators<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(including teachers, administrators, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ministry of Education officials, and others) with a deeper understanding of U.S. society, education,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">and culture \u2013 past and present. The focus of the Institutes will be on providing content and materials<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">for participants to develop high school level curricula about the United States. Two of the Institutes<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">are tailored for secondary school teachers; please note that the Institutes for Teachers focus on<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">content and materials about the United States rather than teaching methods and pedagogy. The<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">third Institute is tailored for experienced administrators including teacher trainers, curriculum<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">developers, textbook writers, Ministry of Education officials, and others.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Program Model: The Institutes will be conducted as traditional in-person programs at U.S. host<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">institutions. Should health, safety, and travel conditions continue to pose significant challenges, the<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">programs will pivot to a modified virtual format. The virtual program will consist of a minimum of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">36 hours of required programming and will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">learning. The virtual programming will include lectures, small group discussions, videos, readings,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">panels, site visits, assignments, and individual and group activities. Participants are required to fully<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">participate in the entire virtual program from their home country.
